The international journal Food and Waterborne Parasitology (FAWPAR) was established in July, 2015 as the official organ of the International Association for Food and Waterborne Parasitology (IAFWP). Both IAFWP and FAWPAR focus on parasites which are transmitted by food or water and impact the health and welfare of humans. Studies dealing with prevalence, transmission, epidemiology, risk assessment and mitigation, including control measures and test methodologies for parasites in food and water are of particular interest. Evidence of the emergence of such parasites and interactions among domestic animals, wildlife and humans are of interest. Manuscripts with scientifically generated information on associations between diseases caused by food and waterborne parasites and lifestyle, culture and economies are also within scope.
FAWPAR publishes high quality original research papers in four online issues each year. Special Issues dedicated to a particular theme within food and waterborne parasitology are published from time to time. The format of publications includes primarily full-length papers, as well as Brief Communications and Investigative Reports describing novel findings obtained from epidemiological investigations and case reports stemming from disease outbreaks caused by food and waterborne parasites. FAWPAR also solicits and publishes relevant emerging and high profile issues. FAWPAR plays a key role in the dissemination of knowledge on all aspects of food and waterborne parasitology to stimulate critical thinking, networking, and research from basic to applied scopes.
FAWPAR relies on authors for their contribution of manuscripts reporting their research findings, and on reviewers for their valuable expertise and time in performing critical peer-reviews. FAWPAR is pleased to have an Editorial Advisory Board comprised of accomplished scientists from various fields of parasitology. They provide scientific consultation and strategic advice to the journal and support to the Editor-in-Chief who is primarily responsible for ensuring the suitability and quality of papers accepted for publication. An experienced team of experts at Elsevier facilitates the efficient and timely processing and publishing of manuscripts, and the rapid global dissemination of knowledge.
All who are involved or interested in any aspect of food and waterborne parasitology are welcome to participate as appropriate in authorship, review and readership of FAWPAR and as an active member of IAFWP.
